STATEMENT OF BELIEFS

WE BELIEVE

  • God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

  • We believe in God the Father, the eternal and sovereign Creator of heaven and earth. He is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love, and He faithfully sustains and governs all that He has made according to His divine will. As a loving Father, He invites us into a personal relationship through His Son, Jesus Christ, and desires all people to come to know Him.

  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead on the third day to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

  • The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift and brings about the Fruit of the Spirit. As Christians we seek to live under his control daily.

  • The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. It is our final authority on faith and conduct.

  • People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by a nature of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This nature separates people from God and causes all the problems in life.

  • Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith, and submits to Him as Lord and Savior.

  • All people will pass from this life into eternity either at their death or when Jesus returns. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places and everyone will go to one or the other based on how they respond to Jesus. Our great hope, is the day when Jesus returns and resurrects the dead and renews the earth.

  • The Christian view of marriage and sexuality has upheld marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, reflecting the faithful love between Christ and the Church. Rooted in Scripture, this view teaches that sexual intimacy is a gift from God, intended to be expressed within the bonds of marriage for the purposes of love, unity, and the potential for new life. Christians have long seen this design not as restrictive, but as a path to human flourishing, dignity, and holiness.
